Winston Churchill Power Centre
Re-demising and addition to existing shopping centre
Challenges
- Acoustic Noise Containment and Reduction at loading area adjacent to residential development
- Maintain store operation during construction throughout the project
- Maintain and work around existing standing seam sloping metal roof on pre-engineered structure with hanging insulation batts
Solutions
- Research into materials that perform to study requirements. Design and specification of Acoustex Panels and AIL Sound Absorbing Screens
- Coordinate with contractor to carefully phase project allowing for strategic construction of areas in stages to facilitate safe occupation by tenant and patrons of Rona. This involved the coordination of hoarding, temporary store access, and movement of shelving in stages
- Minimize effect on existing roof by placing new roof top equipment to expansion areas. Mitigate potential fire hazards posed from welding reinforcement of steel adjacent to hanging batts by limiting work in areas of existing roof
